Virgin Australia pilot Gary Moverley spends half his life living out of a suitcase. Until he saw plans for Chester
by Kokoda Property, he knew he had found a place to call home.
“I am moving from Auckland to Brisbane and wanted something that was high-end,” he said from New Zealand.
“The time I have off, I want it to be as easy as possible. And I wanted something resort-like that I could just lock and leave when I went to work.”
Mr Moverley has spent most of his working life living in hotels. Before that, he was in the Australian Army.
He said he was drawn to Chester due to the quality finishes and amenities on offer, buying a two-bedroom apartment off-the-plan.
“The location was a big factor,” he said. “You have The Emporium, James St, The Gasworks, just there.”
Kokoda Property is based in Melbourne but has opened an office in Newstead.
The company has completed 12 residential developments in Victoria, and Chester and Ella mark their first foray in to the Brisbane market.
They also have Obsidian at Milton, and land at St Lucia to develop.
Kokoda Property director of sales and marketing Sam Tucker said 85 per cent of the apartments across both Chester and Ella had sold, with “about 50” still on the market.
When complete the development will see 320 luxury apartments across two 18-storey buildings with hotel-style shared amenities including around-the-clock concierge, a rooftop terrace, health and wellness centre, private dining room, cinema, pool and shared outdoor kitchen areas.
Just 18 apartments are still available in Chester, starting from $485,000. Thirty-six apartments remain at Ella, from $555,000.
Mr Tucker said both towers shared a common podium, and would likely rise out of the ground in May.
